Participation Conditions:

Cast:

Maximum cast: flute (also piccolo or alto flute), clarinet (also bass clarinet), trombone, violin, violoncello, double bass, piano. The ensemble has a conductor.

There are only limited possibilities for the use of electronics (stereo playback, no live electronics) and video (1 projector, 1 projection screen).

Submission Deadline:

The competition entries (as PDF file via email at masterpiece2016@gmx.net) and the entry form have to be sent until 31th March 2016. Duration of the piece and the contest category (1-11) have to be indicated on the score. If you use electronics or video, also sent the files via email until 31th March 2016 – a sufficient description in the score concerning the use of electronics/video is necessary. Competition entries received late will not be accepted.

We will inform all winners until 10th April 2016 via email, the names will be published on this website (masterpiecemanagement2016.jimdo.org).

Winners are required to send their full scores and parts as Finale file (music notation software) or JPG files until 17th April 2016.

Prizes:

a) One entry of each contest category is chosen to be part of the masterpiece management 2016 project, which is going to be premiered at new talents biennale on 22th May in Cologne.

 

b) The top 3 entries from the 11 finalists will be selected after the performance.

 

1st prize 1000,- €

2nd prize 500,- €

3rd prize 300,- €

General Conditions:

There is no age limit or nationality restriction for participation. Winners without permanent residence in Germany will probably awarded a reduced prize money due to German taxes (§ 50a EStG, so-called "Foreigners Tax" (Ausländersteuer), 15%).

 

The jury consists of Katharina Vogt and Tobias Eduard Schick, and decides in closed session. The decision of the jury is final, there is no recourse to legal action. The jury may refrain from awarding the prizes.

 

Participants can submit only one entry for each category. In sending their competition entry the participants confirm to be the sole originator of their entry. In case of being chosen as finalist, the participants grant the regionally and temporally unrestricted right of integration and performance within the composition masterpiece management 2016. The exploitation of the utilization rights is carried out by the GEMA. Thus the finalists agree having their entry registered at the GEMA as part of a collaborative composition represented by Tobias Schick.

 

Finalist's entries have to be free of claims of third parties (e.g. publishers in the case of already published works). If third parties assert a financial claim, the participant will be charged the costs.
